Basic Adult Safe Environment

The Catholic Formation Team at Immaculate Conception church strives to prepare all volunteers and catechists to make a difference in the life of a young person by bringing them into a closer relationship with God.  To do this effectively and ensure the safety and well-being of each young person, we provide a required B.A.S.E. training.

Each NEW adult employee or volunteer in a parish of the Diocese of Superior who is in regular, ongoing ministry with minors is required to participate in Basic Adult Safe Environment Training and to have a background check done.  The training and background check is renewed every 5 years. B.A.S.E. training is a 1 ½ hour training session which covers the following items:  What the charter is and how it came to be, signs of sexual abuse in children, recognizing predators and their grooming process and tactics, how to protect yourself from allegations, identifying when you need to file a report of abuse, and how to file the paperwork.   We will take time to complete forms for the required background check.
